In this first session we will explore Fire.
How to embody and identify the connections between psychology, physicality and the natural world, discover direct paths to heightened emotional states and learn ways to apply these techniques to both stage and screen. Each element brings a different psycho-physical world into play. By experiencing a deep dive into each one you will start to build your own artistic palette and explore how the core elements can combine into substances and materials and how to draw inspiration from them in your own character work.
Tom trained at the Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris from ’94 to ’96, and then returned to the school between ’98 and ’99 to further his studies at the L.E.M (Laboratory of the Study of Movement). He has worked for 30 years across the length and breadth of the industry in Theatre, Film & TV, V/O and Motion Capture. Most recently seen onstage as Mr.Myers the Prosecutor in Witness for the Prosecution at London’s County Hall, Tom’s other notable West End theatre work includes
ENRON, Best of Enemies, The Woman in Black and Tina! The Tina Turner Musical, as well as working extensively at other theatres including the Young Vic, Royal Court, Manchester Royal Exchange, Derby Playhouse, Birmingham Rep, Arcola, and Shakespeare’s Globe. Alongside working in street theatre in Portugal and a national tour of Catalunya and Spain, he is a veteran of a number of Edinburgh Festivals and was Co-Artistic Director of Blow Up Theatre.
Screen credits include: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Alice Through the Looking Glass, About Time, The Hollow Crown, Napoleon, The English, Taboo and Coronation Street. Games include: Plague Tale: Requiem, Warhammer 40,000. Tom can be seen as Leslie the Footman in the recently released film Savage House, a Jacobean dark comedy starring Richard E. Grant and Clare Foy.
Tom was Movement Assistant to Scott Ambler at the National Theatre on Earthquakes in London, has worked as a Movement Director on shows at the Salisbury Playhouse, Watermill, Arcola and Southwark Playhouse, at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh, and teaches Movement as a visiting practitioner at Mountview.
