Description

AUDITIONING: SELFTAPE & LIVE gives actors the opportunity to experience the full audition process twice: first as a self-tape, and then in a live, in-person audition. Actors will prepare and record a scene as they would for a professional self-tape, before returning to the room to perform the same scene again and work with direction and adjustments.

The class explores the important differences between performing for camera alone and performing directly for a casting director or creative team. With fewer in-person auditions in recent years, actors can become accustomed to the self-tape environment and lose confidence in making bold choices, responding quickly to direction, and staying present in the room.

The aim is to bridge that gap: to take the work from the self-tape into the room, receive notes, make quick adjustments and discover what changes when the actor is working live. Actors will develop flexibility, confidence and the ability to make strong, specific choices while remaining open to direction.

The class is on 22nd October, but students will be sent a self tape to submit a few days before.

The class is taught by working actress Georgia Goodman, whose screen credits include The Running ManGood Luck, Have Fun, Don’t DieCaptain PhillipsChildren of MenWednesdaySiloLoki and Homeland.
