Description
Beginning with individual alignment, breathing and spinal release, we roll, stretch, shift weight, soften habitual tension and explore grounding and flow. We then expand into the space, travelling, exploring changes of rhythm and direction, physical impulses, partner exercises and flocking, developing awareness of others and our cohesion as collective. Finally, we progress into improvised scenes.
Actors leave with a freer, more open body and having made a deeper connection to the ensemble.
Rosalind Parker started life as a dancer before training as an actress at Rose Bruford College and has worked in theatre for over 25 years as a performer, movement director, playwright and theatre-maker. She has created and performed three solo physical-theatre shows and, for nearly 20 years, has run The Bedlam Bunch, writing and directing immersive comedy theatre and pantomimes. She also founded Outburst Theatre, creating community and site-specific work including the intergenerational production Catford 1968. Ros has trained with Gecko and Frantic Assembly, is a member of the Shapes in Motion collective, and has taught movement at Identity Drama School and Sadler’s Wells. She is currently developing Beautiful Magic on God’s Earth, a new work created through her shamanic practice, combining dance, storytelling, live music and ensemble physical theatre.
