Description
Three 3-hour morning sessions, roughly two weeks apart. Best for up to 12 participants.
A three-part journey from first spark to a finished ten-minute play you can send out into the world. Across three mornings, you’ll build your piece step by step, with the scaffolding and feedback to carry it over the line.
Between sessions, you’ll do the writing that moves your play forward — but no pressure to bring in anything polished. Come as you are.
Many of the best writers have their roots in acting, and this is a chance to create work — whether for yourself to perform or for others.
Session 1 — Inspiration. Where do ideas come from, and how do you get out of your own way? We’ll explore different ways into writing and the strategies that get words flowing — whether you start with a character or a problem, how to spot what makes an idea compelling, and how to set yourself up for success. You leave with ideas worth chasing.
Session 2 — Voice. You come back with two pages of dialogue, and we hear your work aloud in the room. Rather than group workshopping, you’ll get encouraging, personalized feedback to take away and build on — notes that help you sharpen the voice that’s distinctly yours and finding the tone of the piece you want to create.
Session 3 — Structure. You bring rewrites of those pages plus two more, and we turn to shape: how a ten-minute play holds together and lands. We’ll talk more about structure, and completing work. You leave with real momentum and a clear map to finish it on your own — ready to submit for festivals, scratch performances, and calls for new writing.
