Description
ACTING AMERICAN is a practical, character-focused class designed to help actors go beyond simply doing an American accent. Through accent work, text, improvisation and character exercises, actors will explore how voice, physicality, rhythm, behaviour and cultural context come together to create a truthful and authentic American character.
Whether preparing for an American audition or developing greater confidence with American characters, actors will learn to make the accent feel natural, specific and connected to the character, rather than something performed separately from the acting. You will go through script analysis as taught in American studios, and receive advice on how best to audition for American projects, contracts and being on an American sets.
The class is taught by Georgia Goodman, who has worked extensively across high-profile American film and television productions including The Running Man; Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die; Captain Phillips; Children of Men; Wednesday; Silo; Loki and Homeland.
