Have you ever wanted to mine your lived experience and transform it into
art?
In this immersive two-day workshop, Hannah will guide you through a process
of fictionalising your lived experience and turning it into the beginnings of a
piece of art.
Through a combination of storytelling, imagination, visualisation, character
work, writing and improvisation, you’ll explore a remembered experience and
use it as a starting point for creating a fictional character and world.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop your character through hot-seating and
experimentation, and to work with the other actors in the room to create
relationships and scenes within your individual worlds. Together, you’ll generate
material that might take the form of written scenes, monologues,
improvisations or other ideas for where your work could go next.
The two days will culminate in an informal scratch sharing, where you’ll have
the opportunity to introduce your character and share some of the material
you’ve created. The audience will be invited to ask questions and contribute to
the development process, helping you explore what might come next.
The aim is not to create a finished piece in two days, but to give you a starting
point: a character, a world and new material that you can take away and
continue developing into your own work.
Hannah is a director, actor, writer and teacher. She is an associate artist of
Playing ON theatre company and a founding member of the 5* sketch group
Comedy Bitch. Her multidisciplinary career spans theatre, comedy, clown,
physical theatre, TV and short film. She directed Hope 4 Justice which saw her
collaborating with the Mercury nominated ESKA, wrote and performed her one person show The Clown, T & Me in collaboration with Confucius MC and trained
with the world -renowned Philippe Gaulier. She is a visiting director at
Chichester University and the host and executive producer of The Difference
Podcast.
