Voice and Text Coach at the RSC since 2004, and has just finished working on a new Japanese Netflix with the Best Actor in the Cannes Film Festival 2023, Koji Yakusho.

Tess will be offering Voice and Text for the Actor, to wake up the body/breath/voice connection for auditions and for performing. Bringing text to life, from the page to the performing space, with playfulness, and discovery. It is in the art of release and play, that we find the full colours of the voice and enjoy our expressivity and creativity through sounds, punctuation, prosody, breath, and the power of the spoken word.

Tess Dignan has more than thirty years of expertise to share as a Voice, Text, Dialogue and Acting Coach, in TV’s: Outlander and the Netflix series released this year in Oct 2026, Did Someone Happen to mention Me.

And in the theatre, she has worked at: the Chichester Festival Theatre, the Globe Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Birmingham Rep, the Liverpool Everyman, Colchester Mercury, the Royal Opera House, the Old Vic, Manchester Royal Exchange, the Theatre Royal Haymarket, Sheffield’s Crucible, and many others.

She has been Head of Voice at Mountview, Rose Bruford College, LAMDA and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. She has given workshops internationally at the Moscow Arts Theatre School, Penn State University School of Theatre, USA, the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, the Oslo Festival in Norway, and at the Institute del Teatre de Barcelona, in Spain.
