The terms "Method Actor" or "Method Acting" are used quite often to describe actors who go to extreme physical and emotional lengths to prepare for a role, stay in character on and off the set, are difficult to work with, or simply act like crazy. But is this what the father of "The Method" Lee Strasberg meant, when he developed this acting technique which has been used by some of the greatest actors of all time to create their iconic performances?

In this workshop, former Lee Strasberg Institute archivist and teacher, and The Method Studio Los Angeles founder Aylam Orian will dispel these myths about The Method, and through video clips and exercises demonstrate what it actually is. Participants will gain a first-hand understanding and experience of this powerful technique, and how it is used to create truthful and moving performances for the stage and screen… without any craziness.

About the teacher: Aylam Orian is the head of The Method Studio in Los Angeles. For almost a decade he has served as the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute's archivist, where he had the privilege of researching and preserving Lee Strasberg's vast collections of materials on acting, and his own "Method". Before opening The Method Studio he has taught for The Lee Strasberg Institute and UCLA Extension, to name a few, and has given workshops for SAG-AFTRA, Spotlight UK and Theapolis Germany, among others. As an actor, he has been working in all areas of the business. Major film/TV credits include Hulu’s We Were The Lucky Ones, 30 Rock, Code Black, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Informer, and the ‘series regular’ role of the Nazi villain on MGM’s Stargate Origins.
