Meisner for the Screen with Craig McKenzie

Tutor: Craig McKenzie

Venue: Marylebone Theatre (map)

Date(s): Thurs 21st May

Times: 6.30pm-9.30pm

Do you want to get out of your head and into the present moment when performing on camera? With so much distraction it can be easy to forget the simple task of keeping a scene conversational. It often becomes one-sided and feels rehearsed or like a series of empty line readings. Sanford Meisner's repetition exercises are a helpful way of getting out of your head, and within this workshop we aim to translate the foundation of these exercises into a scene, and to further put this scene down on camera

For this workshop you will be sent a short scene 2-3 days before the class and are required to be off book. There will be a simple film set up including backdrop & lighting, and an additional tripod for actors who wish to record their own take for their showreels. Please bring along a notepad and pen (or something to take notes with), and please do not try to watch your scene online anywhere: We want you, not your impression of Meryl Streep.
