Clown Practice with Carlos Sandin
Tutor: Carlos Sandin>
Venue: Marylebone Theatre (map)
Date(s): Tues 2nd June
Times: 10am-1pm
Through games, exercises, and improv, this clown workout class will give performers an opportunity to continue nurturing both their play and presence on stage.
A challenging yet fulfilling practice that will inspire performers to embrace 'the flop', discover what makes them uniquely funny and build useful instincts for playing with an audience. Without pre-written punchlines or a fourth wall, how can you be your most ridiculous honest self and make us laugh with just your charm?
An encouraging and supportive space to develop skills such as:
presence, spontaneity and responsiveness
audience sensitivity
resilience through failure
improvisation
status and clown chemistry
recognising and building on your successes
This class is for actors, clowns, improvisers, and anyone curious enough to get on their feet and really go for it! To get the most out of it, participants are expected to have at least some prior experience with clown or improv.
Carlos Sandin is a graduate of ArtsEd’s MA Acting, SpyMonkey’s ‘Theatre of Funny’, and has been taught by many clown teachers from the UK, US, Canada and Europe. He has worked professionally as an actor, clown and director across both stage and screen since 2018. His original work includes ‘Pull My Goldfinger’ (‘a sharp, ridiculous, and unexpectedly generous hour of theatre’ ★★★★★ – EdFringeReview) and ‘The Supermalts’ who perform regularly in the UK improv and alternative comedy scene.
