Acting Through Song with Vanessa Havell

Tutor: Vanessa Havell

Venue: Marylebone Theatre (map)

Date(s): Thurs 14th May

Times: 6.30pm-9.30pm

Group session in a masterclass set up.
Structure: group warm up, vocal and physical- maybe some group exercises using your song.
Then individual bespoke time working on your material with backing track.

Everyone will watch each other and often will participate to help facilitate the person working.

Using the text of the song, grounding and presence exercises, Vanessa will help you explore your relationship to singing and song; building a deeper connection and confidence. Equally useful for beginners wanting to explore their voice, established performers looking to revitalize audition material or anyone interested in a deeper exploration to your singing and acting.

This session is for you if you are looking to unlock your potential and freedom when singing. To investigate and play with your song in new and fresh ways. Vanessa focusses on the present and finding the truth of the song, working from an acting and imaginative view point. This is not a singing techniques class.

Vanessa has over twenty years experience including musical theatre, theatre and tv/film. She trained as an actress at RSC and in musical theatre at RAM. She currently teaches and directs in drama schools- MPAA academy, ArtsEd, NOS. She is the co-founder of Meisner in Song.
