AWA is an acting course run by Actor/Director Daniel Benzenou.
Daniel is a professional actor who’s been working in the industry for over 25 years, his work ranges from big budget international movies to stage work as well as TV and VoiceOver work he’s also done numerous computer games and worked in motion capture extensively.
The style of teaching has been inspired and follows in the footsteps of the principles and theory of Bathsheba Garnet, a teacher of many years at the original Actors Centre who Daniel worked with for 13 years.
We work on a scene with the same partner for two days.
The foundation of it is really taking the words off the page, making them your thought and then sharing them with the other person as opposed to reading lines at each other. Because you have two days, the scenes are able to organically evolve and become what they want to be as opposed to us imposing our impression on what it is or who we are early…Before we really understand what’s happening or what our relationships are to the other characters. By working this way insights are gained and discoveries are made by being present and really talking to the other person in real time.
